Two grassroots groups in the state of Maine have been collecting signatures for months in an attempt to allow a common core initiative to be placed on the November 2014 statewide ballot.

This is believed to be the only state currently attempting this.  Most other states are trying to lobby their legislators to repeal common core.  The state requires 57,000 valid signatures to place the initiative on the ballot and organizers are confident they will secure more than 100,000 by the February deadline.  We will keep you up to date on this story.
